Samuel Adams Millennium #1486

I have been fundraising for Boston Marathon Charities since 2008.  This has definitely been my toughest year fundraising yet.  So I have tried to be a little creative this year.  One of my ideas was to auction off my bottle of Samuel Adams Millennium.

Samuel Adams Millennium is the result of Jim Koch’s (founder of Samuel Adams) desire to create an astonishing, once in a lifetime beer to commemorate the new millennium. Packaged in cobalt blue bottles encased in a cherry wood box, only 3,000 bottles were made making it the most limited edition beer we’ve sold. Each bottle was hand signed and numbered by Jim himself. I bought it back in November 1999, and stored in safe in dark cool place, thinking I would have it for some special occasion.  Little did I know 12 years later I would use it to help cure cancer.

For the past 10 days, it was available for bid on eBay and last night the final bid of $610 went to Chris from Chicago.  I found out later he was glad that the proceeds were going to Dana-Farber.  Chris’ dad passed away from an aggressive cancer 3.5 years ago.  He supports the American Cancer Society regularly and has raised money for them by running the Chicago Marathon.  I’m glad he one the bid.
